Five new songs. Thanks. (click title)
All The Blown Speakers - andy yeh
Portuguese Personal - andy yeh
apologies for very low volume.
radiator burn - andy yeh
what can be said. i’m still around somewhere. still a little tired of the guitar. watching people dance as I made this. bass is a bit low so get them earbuds/headphones ready. resisting verse/chorus/verse once again, vocals pick up at the end.
crude oil - andy yeh
made a song. put it over “there will be blood.” had a laugh.
short fuse - andy yeh
wrote this on the 12hour flight back. absolute alienation on the plane. landed, recorded it on my phone when I got home. just a demo, hopefully will have the energy to someday flesh it out more.
dirty fingers. short fuse.
lurking in the black.
waiting for a slip.
head decompressed.
and so what? and so what? (the dead skin comes)
evidence builds.
please like me. are you listening?
of course.
it’s all that i can do.
but it keeps me in myself again.
and we caught on fire. we caught on fire.
i’m an animal. an animal.
my skin collects around me. surrounds me. my skin collapse. keeps me in myself.
talkshowhost - andy yeh (cover)
No music while I’m out of the country, so just before I leave, here’s “talk show host” by radiohead recorded into my phone (smartphones these days…). Apologies for my voice, didn’t feel like recording it ten times to get a good take. But I was a little tired of never hearing anyone on youtube actually sing in the key that the song is in. Take care, no one who comes here.
reentry (tape) - andy yeh
My default emotion is like that old bradbury story about being marooned in space and then re/entering the earth as a shooting star. It’s like that but also not at all.
equipment: guitar, ebow, glockenspiel, bad garageband strings
neatlittlerows (w/ vocal demo) - andy yeh
trust me on this: you need the volume on those earbuds up bigtime for this (at least notch 8 on macbooks.)
this one’s a grower. repeat it. get used to the lack of music and everything being slightly off key and off-rhythm. otherwise none of your fancies will be tickled. no cups of tea will be your preferred cup of tea.
the last 50 seconds i think a tone deaf jeff buckley makes a guest appearance. i woke up and recorded the vocals in one take, so forgive me if I was half-asleep, the residue of a chant in my dream still intact. i always hear chants in my dreams. which is as creepy as it sounds.
the metal clank reminds me of buttons tumbling in the wash.
anyway, this is more of a cinematic soundtrack, but I can never resist putting godawful vocals on things. it’s a compulsion of excess.
exit music - andy yeh (cover)
my 5th radiohead cover (talk show host, idioteque, amazing sounds of orgy, how to disappear completely). straightforward, this. the last bit is loud, so you can hear the audio moving up and down a little. recorded into my phone again and didn’t feel like putting it in pro tools for mixing, so just changed volume in garageband. this was about my third take. i never liked playing this song, for some reason, but I do now.
prior to these covers, I hadn’t really listened to these songs for a few months. it keeps it fresh for me. in high school, I let a friend borrow Amnesiac and never got it back, and strangely, I play songs off that album by memory to myself the most to compensate. for all i know they might all be wrong.
open mouth to the sky - andy yeh
small snippet of some very simple thing. basically mellotron with a lot of reverb and echo. that’s about it.
crack-up - andy yeh
another one of those rough idea things. not much singing. the last bit is actually taken from the background in the middle of the song that when isolated on its own sounds like a completely different tune.
another one of those awareness things. if i didn’t notice the mellotron in the back and recognize that somehow, when doubled, it sounded actually quite nice, the length of music would have been buried underneath shit forever.
little bit (cover) - andy yeh
phone ran out of space, so all you get is one verse.
Late Nineties - Andy Yeh
Headphones on. Volume up. Wrote it for my girlfriend.
Last The Night - Andy Yeh
The song is mostly bass, so please use earbuds/headphones to listen. Also turn it up pretty loud because it’s mixed really low. Or more appropriately, it’s not mixed at all, so you need to up the volume to compensate.
Enjoy if you choose to press play. There are agogo bells and off-key singing for those who are into them things.
This song may or may not be about extraordinary rendition.
